POWER H2020 at Constanta – Sustainable Energy City 2018
The POWER Project has taken another important step in disseminating its progress and in recruiting more cities who have officially signed the POWER FOLLOWER DECLARATION OF INTENT.
Today in Romania, POWER was presented at a major European Conference on Energy, hosted by the University of Constanta situated on the Black Sea coast. During the course of a high-profile, keynote speech, an audience of academics, industrialists and politicians were informed of the technical, social and political implications of the POWER Water Community, with an emphasis placed on the capacity of POWER to support cities in their role of policy implementers in order to achieve the aims of the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goals, the Green Growth Economy proposed by the OECD and the environmental aims of the European Commission. The involvement of the citizen and the capacity of the POWER methodology to enable inter-city knowledge exchange were emphasised.
After the hour-long session, the first three Romanian cities to join the growing number of POWER follower municipalities signed the POWER FOLLOWER DECLARATION OF INTENT before a packed audience and the Romanian Press. As the result of a close collaboration with Ciprian Nanu, former EIP WATER representative in Eastern Europe, it is expected that further cities will be signing the declaration in the coming weeks.
